2Advanced new site more usable
2Advanced the king of fast moving, detailed oriented flash goodness has launched their new site. The new site carries on the tradition of large graphics and beeping sound effects (although taken to a new level). The new site tries to address the “back button” problem that 100% Flash sites often suffer from. The back button does in fact work in FireFox and Internet Explorer. The only problem with the back button functionality is the fact the animation sequences are not “skipped” so it often feels sluggish as you navigate backwards through the site as you wait for the new page to “draw”. The best fix to this issue would be to do some type of detect to see if the user has clicked a button, or is using the back button. Something like If back button clicked then > skip animation build. This would make the site seem more responsive.
Navigation
The navigation of the site is hidden at first. It was only on my second visit that I noticed the “Expanded Navigation Array” at the top. I consider my self to be pretty savvy. (after all I do built websites for a living) And I totally missed this. I wonder how many marketing managers, account types, and folks who generally spend the money are going to miss this? Hidden navigation is never good. On the positive side of things the “Portfolio Sorter” is a really nice usability feature. It makes getting at their large array of clients very easy.
