Low Cost Flash CMS

fcmsI have done a lot of looking around for a low-cost (or free open source Flash CMS) sadly, there is nothing like WordPress for managing content in Flash. Most Flash CMS systems are either hard to use or not well documented (or very expensive). This is not the case for FlashLoaded’s “Flash CMS“. Like all of FlashLoaded components you can expect high quality well documented tools to speed up your Flash development. At first blush you may review many of the FlashLoaded components and think you can get similar “free components” online. The truth is for the low cost of each of their components you save time and money by not having to wade through someone’s poor ActionScript implementation. Everything has a cost, and “free” often comes with no documentation or old out of date code. Although the .FLA may be free, I find my programmer spends more time messing with these things rather than just starting with a well documented .FLA or component in this case. FlashLoaded’s Flash CMS enables programmer types and visual artist types (like me) to build out small to medium size sites with little fuss. What I love about their system is the simplicity of it all. Everything is well documented and professionally designed. At every turn your realize this is a well polished piece of software. The average Flash programmer typically bills out at $100/hr (for the good ones anyways), so the cost of $299 for the site license and $80 dollars to install the software on your server is a true deal.

Why this Flash CMS is great

  1. You don’t have a lot of time for a build
  2. You don’t want to mess with “code” to much
  3. Your programmer has bigger fish to fry. (Like building out a papervsion game for the same site!)
  4. You want to give your clients access to editing things you don’t want to be bothered with

Conclusion
For the money this CMS is well worth a look. I highly recommend you play with the demo before you buy so you ensure this CMS fits your project. You can learn more about the FlashLoaded CMS.
